Hurricane Harvey Spotlight
|
Hurricane Harvey's recent visit to the Texas Gulf Coast had a significant impact on many employers and job candidates. The immediate concern has turned to clean-up and recovery, creating new jobs throughout the region.
There are two quick ways to locate jobs in WorkInTexas to help customers interested in clean-up and restoration work.
When you log-in to WorkInTexas.com, you can run a search by text or by keyword. Select the 'Browse Jobs' tab then 'by text' from the drop-down menu. Enter 'Harvey 2017' and the list of jobs related to the hurricane will be displayed.
You can also get to the same list by selecting the 'Employer' tab then the 'Employer Search' tab, then select 'job posting search' from the drop-down menu. Select the 'Gulf Coast Area' and enter 'Harvey' in the keyword field.
An additional resource for you is the Daily LMI Report which is distributed by email. Select the Harvey tab from the worksheet, and you can see the employers with the most recently updated listings.

Careers in Texas Industries
|
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and Workforce Solutions, in conjunction with Tri-Agency Initiative partners, the Governor's Office of Economic Development & Tourism and industry associations, are raising awareness about careers in our state's in-demand industries through the statewide "Careers in Texas Industries" events. These career exploration events will encourage students to explore careers in growing Texas Industry Clusters and help students, parents and educators understand in-demand industries through networking with industry professionals and internship opportunities.
Careers in Texas Industries Week encourages students to explore career opportunities including jobs in-demand, networking, internships, apprenticeships and other applied learning opportunities. These events will also help parents and counselors to understand their particular role in helping children in their career exploration journey.
