The Gulf Coast Workforce Board and Workforce Solutions

Workforce Solutions, the public workforce system in the 13-county Houston-Galveston region, helps elevate the economic and human potential of the Gulf Coast region by anticipating and adapting to the evolution of work by fulfilling the diverse needs of the businesses and individuals we serve.

The Workforce Board is business-led and community focused, with approximately 50 members representing private sector business, education, organized labor and community-based organizations.

The Board contracts for the operations of Workforce Solutions, which directly delivers service to employers and individuals.

With participation from the region's chief local elected officials, the Workforce Board sets the strategic direction for the regional workforce system and guides the area's workforce agenda focusing on four key results:

2. An Educated Workforce
3. More and Better Jobs
4. Higher Incomes

What We Do

With 27 full-time and 11 part-time locations across the region, the staff in our Career Offices help people find jobs, keep jobs or get better jobs. We offer job search and job matching assistance, career counseling and financial aid for education/training or work support.

Pieces of a Larger System

Understanding the roles of each entity in the Workforce Solutions system improves internal communication and ensures we can confidently say "I AM Workforce Solutions" to our customers. Through a series of trainings called Did You Know, we're reviewing each piece of our system with staff members and working to unify our language with customers on all fronts.
