Teacher Apprenticeship Incentive Program
The Teacher Apprenticeship Incentive Program (TAIP) is a regional initiative led by the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, in partnership with Houston Endowment, designed to strengthen the educator pipeline by supporting school districts in developing and expanding Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Programs (RTAPs). Through a comprehensive, three-part strategy, TAIP provides financial incentives to districts for each employed apprentice, delivers structured wraparound support to help apprentices successfully complete their certification pathways, and builds regional infrastructure through RTAP Hubs that convene partners, share resources, and track progress. By combining funding, technical assistance, and individualized support, TAIP reduces barriers for both districts and aspiring educators, ensuring more candidates are positioned to enter the classroom as high-quality, credentialed teachers.
