Jacob Kovar Builds Confidence Through Work Experience

For Jacob Kovar, his experience working at CVS has been about more than learning how to complete a shift. Through the Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast’s Summer Earn & Learn (S.E.A.L.) Work Experience program, he has gained hands-on work experience while developing skills that he can carry with him into future opportunities.

At CVS, Jacob helps with a variety of tasks, including restocking shelves and coolers, checking inventory in the back and helping customers find what they need.

His time on the job has also taught him something about himself.

“I have learned patience. And how to help others,” Jacob said.

One of his favorite parts of coming to work is discovering new products and being able to assist customers.

“I like seeing items here that I’ve never seen before, helping people,” he said.

For other students considering the SEAL program, Jacob keeps his advice simple: “Focus hard on your work.”

Behind his success is a family that encouraged him to take the opportunity. Jacob said he is grateful to his parents “for getting me into this program, to have work experience.”

For Jacob, the experience has provided an opportunity to learn, contribute and build skills in a real workplace, one shift at a time.
